"the big house" is the NICKNAME for michigan stadium, which is the official name. Kind of like Ohio Stadium would be "the horseshoe", Ben Hill Griffin Stadium would be "the Swamp", and so forth...

Michigan stadium is called the Big House and just got new renevations and i think Penn State passed them up
