This Relais & Chateaux resort is set in a 19th century farmhouse on a 4,200–acre estate in the Great Smoky Mountains, 25 miles south of Knoxville, Tenn. Its Thanksgiving festivities begin this year on Wednesday, Nov. 21, with a welcome reception and musical accompaniment on the Main House verandah. Other activities throughout the weekend include a behind-the-scenes tour of the farmstead, a traditional Thanksgiving turkey fry, gingerbread house workshop, several bonfires with storytellers, and a fall harvest lunch, with guest musicians, wool-spinners and weavers, apple pressing, quilters and even a marble-maker.

Located on 450 acres of lush, landscaped grounds and lagoons in Palm Desert, Calif., this hotel is literally an oasis in the desert; after a $35 million renovation this year, it now has a new, 38,000-square-foot spa, refurbished lobby and new lobby and sushi bars. Thanksgiving activities include pony rides, a front-lawn carnival Saturday afternoon, and petting zoo.

Built on a 100-acre estate atop Bermuda’s highest point, on the southern shore of the island, this hotel is offering an extensive program of activities November 22 through 24. On Thanksgiving Day, guests can watch the Macy’s parade in New York and football games on big screen TV; there will also be a culinary demonstration and wine-tasting, plus several Thanksgiving feasts, one with dancing and live entertainment. A guided tour of the Bermuda Railway Trail, karaoke pizza party, and dockyard excursion are also offered throughout the weekend.

This Rosewood resort, on an exclusive, 300-acre private island off the coast of Antigua, is offering five days of festivities for guests of all ages. These include pumpkin carving for younger guests, rum-tasting for older ones, a holiday-cookie decorating class, family bingo, crafts for kids, and a children’s pizza party and holiday movie. The weekend concludes with a farewell brunch.

Located on Columbus Circle, near Central Park and the route of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, this hotel gives guests access to its ballroom on Thursday, where they can watch the parade and its floats and balloons in comfort. In the ballroom they will also find a continental, buffet breakfast, gingerbread-cookie decorating station, and puppet and story-telling corner. The hotel’s guest relations team will contact guests before arrival to help them personalize their itinerary, make dining arrangements for Thanksgiving brunch or dinner, and other plans. The “I Love a Parade Thanksgiving Package” costs $809.

This 265-room Victorian castle resort in New Paltz, New York, 90 miles north of New York City, has been welcoming guests for almost 140 years. It will do so again this Thanksgiving, offering special activities like a ventriloquist act, a walk with a naturalist, family square dance, classical music trio, plus programs for children age two to 12 and even in their teens. For those who are athletically inclined, Mohonk has an indoor heated swimming pool, with an underwater sound system, and fitness, yoga and meditation classes for adults.

This historic hotel in Cooperstown will offer an extensive program of activities for kids and adults from November 21 through November 25. “Hay You” the clown will entertain the former throughout the weekend, as will kids’ movies nightly, gingerbread-cookie-necklace decorating lessons, and other age-appropriate activities. There will also be walking tours and horse-drawn hayrides through Cooperstown, home of the Baseball Hall of Fame, and a cooking demonstration and wine pairing and tasting for adults. Santa and Mrs. Claus are even scheduled to make a special appearance in Cooperstown Friday evening. The Thanksgiving Weekend Family Package starts at $415.

A Thanksgiving buffet dinner in the hotel’s ballroom is also included in the Thanksgiving Parade Fantasy Package, which starts at $4,550.
