@Vince I don't know much about oil. Nevertheless I'd buy it. I'd rather buy other things, but if it's a choice between buying or selling oil, I'd be a buyer. Of course, this is a long-term view. Who knows what will happen over the short-term.

Obviously there was some talk last week about Iran, Nigeria, and some other factors all contributing to a potential major spike in oil. I saw a supposed oil expert on CNBC talking about it. He seemed to be pretty knowledgeable, and he was saying that there's about 4 factors right now (Iran and Nigeria 2 of them), any of which could potentially create a huge spike in the price of oil.

If you want to buy a single stock and not the ETF, I'd look into which of the oil companies correlate closer to the actually price of oil. Some are more shielded from it than others, but I can't remember who. That's the way to play a single stock if your thesis is that oil's going higher.

@deathoftheman What do you think of Oil ETFs fright now? They are related to the dollar so I'm not quite sure of that either. What are the best investments if you are long on oil?

@mikeman I wonder that too. The list was actually made earlier than that, when I posted them on nowbuystocks.blogspot.com.

When I have a bit more time I'll evaluate their performance vs. the S&P since originally posted.

@RiskchamP After taking a look at Bank of America, they look like they could be a major bargain at ~$11. I think it's a shameful company, but I heard an analyst say recently we can now expect them to earn something around $3/year. Now that we know the extent of the dilution that will take place. Not too many stocks can return your money in like 3 or 4 years. In short, I'd buy.

This list was made on 4/25/09, I wonder how these stocks have done since that time.

@deathoftheman What is your recommendation for Bank Of America, I feel like now is the time to buy, but I'm still not sure of their long term prospectus.
