In the 1970s we celebrated everything ranging from bell bottoms to tunics to polyester leisure suits. Major League Baseball was no different. Flannel uniforms were as dead as the dodo and pinstripes were hanging on by a thread. In their place were double knits, horizontal stripes and every color in the rainbow.
Mostly these changes were horrid. But I truly believe we are better off for having tried these. How boring it would be if every team wore pinstripes at home and gray uniforms on the road! 1976 Chicago White Sox Short Pants
Black shorts, white shirts with a collar and an ugly cap. It was hideous

The shirt was bad enough but identical pants put this one over the top

1975 Astros Horizontal Stripes
Red, orange and yellow stripes, a giant blue star and their jersey number on the pants - shudder

1977 Pirates Mix and Match
Polyester pinstripes, all yellow and all black uniforms which they would break up into separates.

All Mustard all of the time. Wore this one home and away.

A little burgundy goes a long way.

1972 Braves Blue Sleeve Pullover
This one is more subtle than the rest on the list but it was still butt ugly.

Orange really should be for Halloween only.

They also had an all yellow uniform this year which was nearly as bad.
