Top poker stars choose the hottest card rooms

At approximately 4 a.m. on the morning of August 11th, 2006, a television producer named Jamie Gold went all in after the flop. Two minutes later, his bank account jumped $12 million. There was very little surprise at the Rio -- Gold had enjoyed a commanding chip lead for several days. Still, $12 million is a lot of money.

This year 8,773 players anted up 10 grand each to play in the World Series of Poker, resulting in a staggering prize pool of more than $80 million. For six weeks, the Rio's cavernous Amazon room hosted 200 tables' worth of rolling fortunes. In the end, it came down to a pair of queens.

At least eight poker rooms have opened, or been extensively refurbished, at major Vegas casinos over the last two years. 5. The Palms Being a celebrity-driven casino, so you just might see some stars floating by.
6. The Red Rock This room boasts state-of-the-art equipment, including a Shuffle Master and a player's card tracker at each of the 20 tables. The high ceilings, generous space between the tables and on-site restrooms make the room feel especially comfortable. The dealers call you by name, and there's tableside food service. The only downside? The Red Rock Casino Resort Spa is located 20 minutes west of the Strip, near the upscale community of Summerlin.
7. Caesars Is now part of Harrah's properties, it has hosted some WSOP Circuit action and there are whispers that the final table might be played there next year.
8. Rio Begin daily with buy-ins ranging from $1,000 to $50,000.
9. Binion's Poker Room Take a walk through poker history at Binion's Gambling Hall & Hotel. Founded by Benny Binion in 1951 and known to many as the Horseshoe, Binion's was home to the World Series of Poker from 1970 to 2005. Today it's still a place to play poker, if not for the Vegas nostalgia, then to win one of their four daily No-Limit tournaments (2 a.m., 12 noon, 2 a.m., 8 p.m.). If you've ever considered hosting your own private poker tournament for a party or charity event, Binion's will provide professional dealers, a tournament host and chips and cards for up to 460 people in their event room.
